Mystery Quilt Completion!

For many years I had admired the Quiltville Mystery Quilts

and way back in 2014 I decided to be join in the fun.

Surely I could collect the clues each week and keep up, right.

The timing was perfect as they started at the end of the year

when I had some down time. I did manage to complete part of each clue.

But after Christmas it was packed away in a box, along with all the fabrics

as I could no longer commit any more time.

Each year when the new mystery quilt started the same thing would happen.

Start each clue, then pack it away.

Due to circumstances this year with the

global pandemic of covid 19 and being in lockdown.

It seemed the perfect time to open these boxes and complete

at least one before the commencement of this years.

A few changes to the layout of mine, due to incorrect cutting

and a determination to use what I had cut and a slightly smaller size.

Really love how this has turned out, the colours are so vibrant.

Quilt top completed, binding made and backing ready for when I can get it to the quilters.

All of the remaining fabrics can now go back into the stash,

the box of fabrics looks just as full as when I started.

On a mission now to see if I can finish another this year

before the start of the new one for this year.

Meet Hibiscus, new pattern release!

A very cute panel caught my attention some time ago

and I couldn’t wait to design a new quilt just for it.

This panel is from the Tropical Zoo range, part of the Devonstone Collection from

2 Green Zebras, also has some equally cute matching coordinates,

Along with some pretty Devonstone Solids.

To  feature the blocks I framed them with an easy sawtooth border.

Then added the same sawtooth border in a softer Devonstone Solid

in the surrounding blocks.

After quilting its time for lots of pics.

Have to have the right weather, not too sunny or windy.

Pattern now available through all good patchwork stores.

See more of my designs at www.franceslillydesigns.com

Wildlife Art panels and a new Quilt!

How amazing are these Wildlife Art panels. These are the first of a series

and below is the second, Wildlife Art 2 designed by Natalie Jane Parker for

2 Green Zebras.

They are as bright and lifelike as these images portray.

A couple of weeks ago, I was asked to design some quilts using Wildlife Art 1 & 2

along with the coordinates and below are some that I came up with.

Coolart pattern is about to be released and you have the option to make the

9 or 12 panel quilt. Both sizes and colourways will be included in the pattern.

Ask for it at one of my stockists, listed on the right on this page.

Recently I was invited to participate in the Tilda Plum Garden Showcase

This very pretty range was released on the July 1st and is now

Its so hard to choose which one I liked the most as they are all so gorgeous

and as I used each one it became the new favourite.

The coordinates Berry Jam and the Tea Towel Basics are perfect

match not only for your Plum Garden project but for your other Tilda projects.

Road Trip to K & K Warehouse Sale!

Recently we took a road trip to attend Kennard & Kennard

Warehouse sale. I also met one of the very talented designers

of their Australiana fabrics Amanda Brandl it was wonderful to talk about her

current ranges and I look forward to seeing the new ones.

For some time I have  been working on some new quilt designs

for Kennard & Kennard

using their latest Australiana fabric ranges.

These fabrics are gorgeous and I can’t wait

to start making them up. I’ve also seen some of the new ranges coming

and have many new designs on the drawing board.

Contact Kennard & Kennard if you wish to purchase

any of the patterns below.

Classes & Trunk Shows

So excited to have spent some time

teaching and having trunk shows

in country New South Wales recently.

Shown are a few highlights, as always should have taken more photos.

Always a favourite, my ‘Illusions’ quilt.

Another favourite, my ‘Heyfield Station Tote’

with the ever popular 3dimensional flowers.

A big thank you to everyone who made us so welcome.

On our way home, we stopped to catch up with family and friends.

This was the view from the road of Mt Buller, glistening in the glorious spring sunshine.

And below from a different road, with Mt Buller on the right

and Mt Stirling on the left.

Weekend Retreat!

Recently I was lucky to spend some time catching up with these

lovely ladies again the this year at the

Lily Lane retreat in Lakes Entrance.

Show and tell is always popular, this version of Illusions had just been quilted.

All hand pieced in repro fabrics and looks absolutely stunning.

The photo doesn’t do it justice.

Also progress from a previous class I taught at Lily Lane,

this version of Twilight Clematis. (Flowers in progress)

A  couple of my new quilts were also displayed.

Spring Song.

and a new version of Boathouse Tavern.

And whats a retreat without a visit to the local patchwork shop, Lily Lane Too.

Lots of goodies to temp you, just a few made their way home with me.
