Quilts in the Barn have announced the dates for this year.
Now in its twelve year, this is always a fun day to spend with friends
and all money raised goes to Breast Cancer Research.
With some very special guests and also some workshops

Spent a couple of hours at Palm Beach Quilting
helping Maureen set up a Christmas in July display.
Lots of fabulous goodies, from small kits suitable for Kris Kringle gifts,
to quilt kits and projects to make in a once a month workshop.
Display only up for the month of July.
At the last Westernport Quilters meeting our special guest speaker was Linda Steele,
it was great to not only see many of her quilts right from where it all started
but to hear about the journey that her quilts have taken her on.
It must be the season for quilt shows,
with exhibitions on every weekend sometimes
more than one and at opposite sides of the state
which makes it virtually impossible to attend them all.
Last weekend was the Waverly Patchworkers Quilt Show
in Mt Waverley. These shows are a great chance to see the
fabulous quilts being created, whether inspired from an antique quilt
or a totally new design and to catch up with many like-minded ladies.
Even at just after 10am on a Sunday morning,
the foyer was a buzz with ladies choosing their
favorite for the red and white challenge.
I managed to catch up with Linda Steele and see her stunning quilt,
Christmas Crazy which won 1st prize at the
Victorian Quilters Showcase in 2013. All hand embroidered
and machine quilted by Linda, my photos doesn’t do it justice.

In the trading hall, Marilyn and Ann-Marie from
The Patchwork Tea House were there with another amazing display.
Always so much to look at, how cute are these fat quarters
of French General fabrics wrapped onto tiny bolts.
Just love the display of Christmas projects.
With our busy lives and schedules,
its great to be able to take a weekend off and
visit a favourite part of Victoria and remind us
what a beautiful part of the world we live in.
As the sun came up, the fog rolled in and the colours
changed from pink to orange.
So peaceful and quiet, the sound of the waves crashing on the beach the only noise.
With only a lone fisherman and myself on the beach
to witness this spectacular sunrise.
A month has gone by already,

on Wednesday was to catch up with Marilyn and drop off a new quilt,
Amarante along with a supply of patterns as well as restocking
of my other two patterns Jardin de Fleur and Juniper Bleu
both using French General fabrics from previous ranges.
Marilyn plans to take Amarante along with the patterns and
fabric packs to have on her stall at the
Waverley Patchworkers Quilt Show on
Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June.
With the great autumn weather we’ve been having,
yesterday was the perfect day for a girlfriend and I to head to Warburton

Every time there is always something new to look at.
This collection of salt and pepper shakers remind me
of my grandmothers collection. I wonder what ever happened to them.

These are always a favourite, French General fabrics
with so many to choose from.
Classes last week included Roses to Di for,
a continuing block/class of the month.
Although more of a catch up this month for those that have been away.
The first couple of blocks nearing completion,
just need the roses to finish them off.
My latest quilts, all back from my quilter
trimmed and bound. Just need to finish writing the patterns
and take some photos for the front covers.
Some stores have ordered patterns, some have booked classes.
And they will be ready for next term.
They will be travelling with me just in case I find the right spot for photos.
First stop was in KooWee Rup to visit Craft Quarters
where the shop has been completed on the outside.
Checkout their Facebook page for some befores and afters.
Then headed to San Remo, a small town
just before crossing the bridge to Phillip Island.
Found some great walking tracks down to the beach and along the cliff tops.
Also some fabulous spots for quilt pics, but you’ll have to wait for those.
