Heritage Day

Earlier in January we took my parents out for the day.

Left home in an absolute downpour, hoping the weather would

clear up for the afternoon.

It was a little blowy to say the least trying to set up the picnic table,

so we asked at the Korumburra Station if we could use the Function Room.

No problem we were told. When we stepped inside oh wow!

The ceiling and panelled walls were lined with the original pressed metal.

Not at all what we were expecting.

We had travelled to Korumburra to take part in Heritage Day.

To travel in 80 year old carriages with an 100 year old engine.

Fitting really as we were celebrating Dad’s 81st Birthday.

Who then decided we should travel in first class and with our own compartment.

And aren’t we glad we did, as we checked out the other carriages

and they were not that comfortable.

The rolling hills of Gippsland were quite green considering

we were in the middle of summer.

A great day was had by all.

  1. Just beautiful!!! I bet the designs are swimming round in your brain. Don’t you just luv the old architecture – we spent the day in the city with M yesterday looking inside the old buildings – the ANZ which she had on her blog is absolutely spectacular – you should make the trip. Glad the olds had a good day out.
