Bag Workshop!

One of the last classes before finishing for the year, a day workshop,

was the ruler and cutting mat bag with the

Mornington Peninsula Patchworkers.

A huge variety of fabrics were used,

one was even made with some star blocks.

A great day was had by all, with everyone

going home with just the handsewing the binding

left to complete.

New Additions!

Over the last few weeks there has been some additions

at our house. First these Plovers or as they are correctly called

Masked Lapwings had this cute baby.

So small but very fast on its feet.

Then mother Magpie brought her baby to visit us.

Unsteady on his feet for a few days, but was soon

learning to fly in the safety of our backyard.

Baltimore Garden

Last night, long after the shop had closed

at Patchwork Passion in Cranbourne a class was being held.

A long term Block of the Month class called Baltimore Garden.

One ladie had purchased the patterns a while ago and as they are all friends

and all wanted to make it,

they decided the only way to go was to come to a class.

                                   Roses in Bloom

                                                                                                      Cactus Flower

                                 Cottage Primroses

As you can see the ladies have all been working dilligently

on their homework to complete the applique as well as the three dimensial flowers.

This class they were working on the centre block which has a combination

of all the flowers in the first twelve blocks.

Next class they start the borders.

Special Delivery

As a fan of Baltimore quilts for many years,

and always keen to my collection of books on this subject.

I came across a book that I have wanted for many years,

as it is now out of print such books are hard to find.

Imagine my delight as I found a copy of Elly Sienkiewicz,

 Dimensional Applique.

And as promised it is in great condition

(like new) arrived within a week.

It now feels quite at home with my other EllySienkiewicz books.

Weekend Escape

This weekend we escaped to the beach for some much needed rest and relaxation.

The sunrise and sunset were just glorious.

Although my trusty sewing machine, is never too far away.

I have been colecting 30’s fabrics for quite some time and I have finally come up with a design.

Some tiny wedges.

Some more sewing to do before I can post more pictures

Photo shoot

When the weather is just right for taking photos of quilts for pattern covers you have to take advantage of it. That is just what I did on a visit to a friend’s house. Although I ended up taking just as many photos of the family’s pets as I did of quilts. They are Very photogenic and ready to pose for the camera.

Bud, basking in the sun

Don’t take my photo yet, I’m not ready

Not impressed

Great quilt for a nap
