Some of my classes/workshops that are coming in the near future:-
August- Baltimore Garden, if you love applique & 3D flowers then this is for you.
Contact Sonia or Debbie at The Sewing Bee Cafe for details.
August- Winter Blooms also with applique & 3D flowers. A two day
class at Lily Lane. Contact Jennifer for more details.
September- Steel Dahlia, mostly machine piecing with some applique.
Contact Maureen at Palm Beach Quilting for more details.
Would love to see you at any of the above classes/workshops.
The pieces for Allietare Mystery Quilt part 4 are almost cut out.
Starting to fall behind, although now that Christmas is over for another year
I can get back to the sewing machine.
You can view what others are doing in their mystery quilts here.
This is what I have been working on. The quilting is now finished
and the binding machine stitched on, just the hand stitching
to do at night while watching TV with the family.
Kits for this quilt will be available in the New Year.
Last weekend was Melbourne’s annual
Quilt & Craft Fair and as always the Quilt Showcase Exhibition.
I was honoured to be invited by the
(one of the Member Groups being profiled)
to display my
‘Roses to Di for’ quilt.
I also entered my ‘Steel Dahlia’ quilt into Showcase.
And to my absolute surprise and delight I received a
‘Judges Commendation Award’.
Patterns, kits & B.O.M.s for both quilts are still available at
Quilt Showcase winners and their respective awards can be seen here & here.
Some photos from the lovely ladies of the continuing
Baltimore Garden class at Palm Beach Quilting.
Call in and grab a bargain at the end of financial year sale,
starting tomorrow. Maybe I’ll see you there.
A few more photos of the amazing custom quilting
on my new BOM Steel Dahlia available from
A.Q.C. opened today and Palm Beach Quilting is there for the first time.
Lots of new items including my new Block of the Month
Steel Dahlia.
Much time has been spent over the last few weeks
in preparation for the show, cutting kits and BOM packs.
I am also tutoring a Make & Take class,
3D flowers on a very handy bag.
Hope to see you at the show. Open till Sunday.
This week I visited a couple of patchwork shops,
to restock them with my patterns before the
Fabric Frolic starts. Checked out some of the prizes,
there are going to be some very lucky people.
First shop I headed to The Patchwork Tea House.
Always love the drive there, as I take the scenic route
it takes a little longer but is worth it. It rained all the way,
something special about the Aussie bush when it rains
with the smell of the eucalypts and the beautiful tree ferns.
The Patchwork Tea House is well known for their
Devonshire Teas, a must have if you visit.
So much to look at
and new for this visit are the batiks.
Second stop was to Palm Beach Quilting,
also part of the Fabric Frolic.
Not only to restock my patterns and templates
but to drop off sample to showcase a new range of fabrics.
Happy Fabric Frolicking for those
partaking in the festivites.
Saturday was the Christmas breakup at
Palm Beach Quilting. Among the many customers and friends
was International Award Winning Textile Artist Deb Layt,
with some show and tell.
Just a few pics of what we got to see.
A couple of close -ups to see the amazing quilting.
This last quilt was only allowed to photograph a portion
as it has not completed and will probably be entered into a show.
It was lovely to meet Deb, and to appreciate other designers work.
For many, many months Maureen from
Palm Beach Quilting and I have been collaborating
on one of many projects we hope to work on together.
This one is for release at the AMQ Festival in Adelaide.
Much time has been spent pouring over
my library of quilt designs, fabric swatches and colour cards.
Bolts of fabric were ordered and soon began to arrive.
I spent many nights completing this new design and
have now handed it to Maureen to quilt
(which as writing this, have heard the quilting is completed)
and bind before I get to
photograph it for the new pattern.
Just a small snippet of a corner before its release later this month.
