Grand Illusion Mystery!

This year I decided to participate in a mystery quilt,

by Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville. I have admired many of

Bonnie’s Mystery quilts in the past but usually am too late

or busy to participate. Trying to reduce and use fabrics from my stash only,

these were my first choice.

Grand Illusions g

Wasn’t happy with the green, too muted.

So added these instead.

Grand Illusions h

I haven’t kept up with the clues each week, but have

completed the first week clue.

Award Winning Textile Artist!

Saturday was the Christmas breakup at

Palm Beach Quilting. Among the many customers and friends

was International Award Winning Textile Artist Deb Layt,

with some show and tell.

Just a few pics of what we got to see.

A Christmas Village!

Some time ago, Maureeen from

Palm Beach Quilting asked if I could create a

pattern for a new Christmas range that had arrived.

Winter wonderland a

Beautiful red and white prints, with a matching panel,

great for redwork embroidery.

A Christmas Village d

Made some really cute stars from the prints, then a house and some trees.

The finished quilt top is now at Palm Beach Quilting,

being quilted as I write this.

The Federation Wallhanging!

Peterborough b

Peterborough c

Spent many, many hours at Steamtown in Peterborough.

Again with a personal tour, a shame we were there in the morning

and would miss the sound and light show only on in the evenings.

Another must see in Peterborough is The Federation Wallhanging.

A project that took over 2000 hours of research, planning, sewing,

reviewing and the ineitable unpicking when something

just didn’t look right, by 18 local women.

Peterborough e

The wallhanging depiccts the town, with a likeness to many of the buildings.

In the top right hand corner is The Royal Flying Docter Service plane. (RFDS)

A vital service to many of these country towns.

More Travel Adventures!

Venus Bay was a favourite spot, with a population of just fifty

that swells in summer to over 3000. Unfortunately we were there

in an unseasonable heatwave of 40 – 42 degrees.
