Soap Making at Home!

After having a lesson on soap making before Christmas, I wanted to try

making some at home while the process was still

fresh in my memory. The Australia Day long week-end,

the perfect time to give it a go.

It took some time to purchase and collect everything

that is required. Not only the ingredients but also the safety gear.

After the mixing process, it was ready to be poured into the mould.

Then wrapped and left for 24/48 hours.

The next day the process was complete and this one

was ready to be turned out of the mould and cut into bars.

The first one was scented with lavender.

While these are lemon mrytle and poppyseed.

It will be a couple of months before they have hardened

enough to use.

Beach Huts!

With Victoria sweltering in a heat wave, temperatures reaching

into the 40’s for most of this week, the most likely location for

pics for my new quilts is at one of our beautiful beaches

on the  Mornington Peninsula.

With hundreds of beach huts lining the foreshore,

it was hard to choose which ones to photograph.

Have to decide which of the following for Boathouse Tavern

pattern covers, maybe I’ll use both.

Both of these quilts are available in kits at

Fabric Frolic 2014!

fabric-frolic-2014-new

The Fabric Frolic is on again and starts this Friday.

Yesterday I called into The Patchwork Tea House to drop off some new patterns

and saw some of the great prizes on offer this year from the very generous sponsers.

Not one but two Phaff sewing machines to be won plus lots and lots

of other goodies, too many to list.

I also got to see the sample of the free block and project pattern,

can you guess which block Marilyn has made?

Today I called into Palm Beach Quilting

also to drop off some quilts and new patterns and this is

the sample of the free block and project sheet available.

Can you guess which block Maureen has made?

I also heard that Maureen is opening on Sunday 19th January

for those who cannot make it through the week.

Soap Making!

One of the many excursions the Thursday girls had before Christmas

was to make olive oil soap at

Olieve and Olie on the beautiful

Mornington Peninsula.

We were made very welcome by the lovely Jude with

lots of homemade goodies were waiting for morning tea and lunch.

After lunch and the lesson on soap making,

we looked at the many other products on offer and made lots

purchases for christmas presents. (hence why this post wasn’t up before christmas)

Soap making 3

Lots of choices, hard to choose.

We all went home with our own handmade soap as well as some from

Olieve and Olie. The next evening mine was ready to unpack and cut

into smaller useable bars ready for use in a couple of months.
