Weekend Escape

This weekend we escaped to the beach for some much needed rest and relaxation.

The sunrise and sunset were just glorious.

Although my trusty sewing machine, is never too far away.

I have been colecting 30’s fabrics for quite some time and I have finally come up with a design.

Some tiny wedges.

Some more sewing to do before I can post more pictures

Laurel Cottage

This lovely group of fabrics are part of my block of the month, Laurel Cottage. Every spare minute of the last few days has been spent sitting at the computer writing the patterns.

It has a mixture of appliqué and machine piecing. The top is complete but is yet to be quilted.

It has been running for some time as a class, once a month. It is now time to finish these patterns. Also the fabric requirements have to documented for stores who may wish to run it as a B.O.M. or it can be purchased as a complete pattern for those who wish choose their own fabrics.

Fabric Frolic

Earlier this week I went for a drive to The Patchwork Teahouse in Warburton. It is such a friendly and inviting store in a beautiful picturesque setting. As the name suggests it is a patchwork store and tearooms.

The Patchwork Teahouse takes part in the Annual Fabric Frolic, it starts today through to Monday 7th February.   As The Patchwork Teahouse has been stocking my patterns, I offered to loan out some of my quilts for display purposes. There are three quilts from Frances Lilly Designs on display and some of my quilt patterns can be seen on the website. Yes, I will be adding a list of stockists very soon.

Photo shoot

When the weather is just right for taking photos of quilts for pattern covers you have to take advantage of it. That is just what I did on a visit to a friend’s house. Although I ended up taking just as many photos of the family’s pets as I did of quilts. They are Very photogenic and ready to pose for the camera.

Bud, basking in the sun

Don’t take my photo yet, I’m not ready

Welcome

Hi and welcome to my blog. I’m Julie and I love to quilt, I love to design and I love fabric so I have turned my passion into a fulltime hobby now career.  I started designing and tutoring about ten years ago but have been quilting for much longer.

I have more ideas for quilts than I could possibly ever make, just like my stash really and have some great ideas for my blog. So follow me as I try to juggle live as a wife, mother, quilt and pattern designer and tutor.

I have some photos to post as soon as I figure out how. There is so much to learn, I’m sure there will be some teething problems.

Till next time
