A fun day AQC! - April 13th, 2012
Yesterday myself with along two friends
headed for a fun day at the
Australasian Quilt Convention in the
As no-one had a shopping list we could spend the day
perusing all the stands at our leisure,
of course there are always favourites
and purchases were made by all three of us.

Stopped by The Patchwork Tea House
where A. found some fat quarters from the new Tilda range.

And later on added to them with these.

Also stopped by Sewing’n'Beyond, a very pretty
and beautifully set up display.

The beautifully presented Field of Flowers kit.

Also caught up with The Quilted Crow Girls.

Where A. couldn’t resist this kit as she had missed out on
A Gathering in the Barn due to illness.

And I couldn’t resist these skinny fat quarter repros.

Term Two! - April 9th, 2012
The new term two class list for The Quilters’ Patch,
is now availble to download from the website.
My classes this term are

Twilight Clematis.

Juniper Bleu

Stars over Kansas

Pinwheel Magic.
As always the quilts look much better
in real life than photos.
Field of Flowers! - April 7th, 2012
The release of Field of Flowers will be at
Sewing ‘n’ Beyond, Stand 39
at the Australasian Quilt Convention held in
Melbourne this month.
It is available as a pattern or as a kit.

Along with many of my patterns.

Or maybe you would like to meet the author of the
Australian Challenge Quilt Series novel: -
Margaret A Rowe and purchase an autographed copy of any of the three novels.
Also at Sewing ‘n’ Beyond Stand 39.

Hope to see you there!
Location, Location, Location! - April 5th, 2012
Sunday morning was spent looking for locations
to photograph this new quilt.
First it was to the Mornington foreshore.

Many people out for an early morning walk,
no chance for photos here.
Then it was on to the Mornington Botanical Rose Garden,
much time was spent just walking around this vast array of roses
which is completely maintained by volunteers.

After a stack of photos taken the final
decision came down to these two.

Maybe I’ll use both.
Sample Quilt - April 4th, 2012
Some time ago I was asked to make a sample quilt
using one of my patterns for
Sewing ‘n’ Beyond in Rosebud.

Started with some 4 patch.

Then some half square triangles.

The quilt top was completed and sent to the quilter to be quilted.
Next post I will show photos for the pattern cover
and more info about this quilt.
A Gathering in the Barn! (Part 2) - March 18th, 2012
Goody bags were awaiting us as we walked into the barn.

Each bag contained four brand new quilt patterns.

And a smaller pattern with everything needed to start stitching.

Nearly everyone worked on this project, easily completed.
Also time for some retail therapy.

Another one of their lovely patterns.

A wonderful day was had by all who attended
and much laughter catching up with old friends and making new ones.
Even had a sneak peak of the quilts from Leonie & Deirdre’s new book.
(Sorry no photos allowed)
Delicious food was provided by Linda and her helpers.
Not forgetting the gorgeous venue.
Part of the proceeds from both days was generously donated to
Breast Cancer Research.
A Gathering in the Barn! - March 17th, 2012
Yesterday I attended “A Gathering in the Barn” with
Leonie & Deirdre – The Quilted Crow Girls,
at the property of Linda of “Quilts in the Barn”.
Leonie & Deirdre use felted wool for their applique,
many of the colours they dye themselves.

A wonderful day was had by all.
Stay tuned for more photos and info in the next post.
Back to class - March 15th, 2012
Now that the school holidays are well and truly over, classes have begun for the year.
The Quilters Patch always has a stunning window display.

New range of fabric: 1 is one.

Also new is Rouenneries Deux.
Illusions is always a favourite on the class list.

Lots of cutting and playing with colours.

With students choosing everything from pretty florals to reproduction.

Sonia also bought in some show and tell, all hand pieced.
Guest Speaker - February 17th, 2012
The guest speaker at the Summer Gathering was
A glimpse into the life and travels of this very talented quilt maker
with a slide show and many of her award winning quilts.

A very entertaining speaker.
More and somewhat better photos can be seen here.
Summer Gathering - February 16th, 2012
On Saturday the Victorian Quilters Summer Gathering
was hosted by the Westernport Quilters of which I am a member.
These gatherings are a great way to catch up quilters from far and wide.

Some pics of what some of the girls were working on.

Nancy working on some gorgeous needleturn applique.

Jenny was working on these little blocks not needleturn
but just as beautiful.
